From comparing the two mobile consoles, I have noticed that they both have similar features but there are a few differences, the main difference is that the N-Gage is a mobile phone as well as a gaming device, whereas the PSP is simply a gaming device.

The PSP has more internal memory than the N-Gage, which means that more games can be stored and played on the PSP than the N-Gage, but the N-gage also has the optional at an extra cost to use an MMC card as external memory.

The PSP has games, which are stored on a UMD (Universal Media Disc) instead of having to download games like on the N-Gage. Am not sure weather this is a good or bad thing, depending on the prices of PSP games, which hasn’t been confirmed yet, buying the games is easier than having to scroll though loads of menu on wap to find the game you want to download. I personally would prefer to go into a shop to buy the game because I hate the wap on my phone, it takes forever and I can never find what I want.

Overall the PSP seems to be a better device because it also has a UMD drive, which offers the user a broad range of digital entertainment, such as music video clips, movies and sports programmes. The N-Gage doesn’t have these facities, on the old N-Gage, which isn’t as well designed as this one; it has a FM radio and can play MP3’s. Although the reviews on the playstation playing DVD’s says that:

“The PSP isn't just a game device of course - it's designed as a portable media system, and Sony will be pushing for music and movies to also be released in UMD format. Movies on UMD will retail at a price "less than a DVD", which is just as well when you consider that UMD discs will almost certainly not be able to store video of the same quality as DVDs. The N-Gage does have some features which seem to be more appealing to the gamer are that the N-Gage is a phone as well as a gaming device, as most people take there mobile everywhere it means that they can play games wherever they go. As well as being able to get new games whenever and wherever you want, by downloading them off wap.

I think that the best device to be the platform for my game would be the playstation portable, I think it has the best selling advantage, because the playstation portable will be new and people will properly go on buying friezes. Also it has some really good features, like that it plays MP3’s and video clips, I think this will appeal to a lot of people because it is not just a gaming device. Whereas the N-Gage might appeal to certain people because it is a phone and a gaming device, but most people like their phone to be small, so the N-Gage will not appeal to these people.
